Research history
An earlier version of this archive conflated Mengin Le Clerc with Johann III von Mengen and consequently assigned Catherine de Bauffremont as his wife. The present canonical reconstruction restores Catherine de Gircourt as Mengin's spouse and mother of Colin. Catherine de Bauffremont is a different woman and is not an alias of Catherine de Gircourt.

Sources are listed in order of evidential weight. A contemporary record outranks a printed reference work; a printed reference work outranks a derivative pedigree or an online database.
